Via Bandcamp Fan DoctorWave: I can't even begin to describe the way "Blueberry" makes me feel. It achieves a goal of evoking all the feelings associated with this genre: melancholy, nostalgia, etc. I feel like I want to smile and cry at the same time. I feel hopeful. It's a very liminal sort of feeling.

There is no doubt that it sometimes makes me shed a tear due to the unfortunate passing of its creator, Florida Skyline. Such a devastating loss. I hope her legacy lives on forever.

Via Bandcamp Fan Illweevil: The Green Tapes is a top-notch chillwave album that stands out with its uniquely nostalgic sounds. I love how this album manages to make its chiptune influences dreamy, creating another unique sound, and how the tracks break down and liquify towards their endings.

Jean-Paul DuQuette <sigh> Such a nice mix of synthwave and IDM. Thank you for the music. RIP

Via New Retro Wave’s Andrew Zistler:

Moscow based newcomer Florida Skyline is quickly making a mark with the release of an absolute bombshell album entitled “The Green Tapes” almost out of nowhere. Fittingly featured on the Midwest Collective, this is not one you want to miss!

Florida Skyline is incredibly reminiscent of HOME’s work (of simpsonwave meme fame) – featuring chilled-out low-fi synthwave sounds with just a hint of vaporwave for good measure. In spite of sounding very similar to HOME, Florida Skyline also manages to remain independently creative and brings her own unique sound to the table. “The Green Tapes” is, in short, an instant classic. If you’re a fan of HOME you will absolutely love this.

It’s worth noting her previous releases – “Anesthesia,” and the Com Truise-esque “Utopian EP” are equally fantastic. These releases are certainly derivative of HOME and Com Truise’s work – however they lay the foundations for something truly great.  You can list on one hand other artists who stormed into the scene with such perfectly produced gusto.

Anesthesia is a story about music being a medicine curing us from various difficulties surrounding us. Laid back and melodic tunes will help to relax and immerse into a place of neon serenity.

Via Bandcamp Fan Dave Farrance: This album is fantastic. Very Com Truise sounding, but with feels of Home in the mix too. A goto album for beautiful synth music you can lose yourself in.
Florida Skyline made some gorgeous music, and was on an amazing musical path. I don’t know what happened to her, but her passing so soon is a true shame. She would have gone far, as you can hear in her work. She has left us something truly special though, and I can’t thank her enough for that.

Via Bandcamp Fan nate: I live in florida and this is the soundtrack i hear every day. Rip </3

Chill synthesizers from an artist gone too soon, I'll be thinking of this whenever I see the Florida skyline.

Via Bandcamp Fan Samuel Baldwin: Everything I want and more from a ‘chillwave’ record: smooth, radiant, shimmery, glistening, rhythmic, like a stream carving out a glacier under the northern lights. Or something to that effect, a beautiful electronic sound scenery.

Via Bandcamp Fan J StJ: I was hooked within the first few notes of the very first track. Absolutely stunning melodies, and just a gorgeous mix of chillwave and synthwave. It's like if you put HOME and Timecop1983 in a blender, but it's also so much more than the sum of those parts.

This one's going to be on repeat for a while for sure.

Some words regarding her departure

MWC:

I'm very sorry to bring the news, as some of you may already know, that Florida Skyline has passed away.
Working with Sofia was always something special. The Green Tapes were a big impact on our inspiration and scope as a label.
Sofia was working on finalizing the new EP “Machinekore.”, which was nearly ready for release.
I encourage you all to take a minute and re-listen to Florida Skyline, and appreciate the gift that Sofia shared with all of us.

Via New Retro Wave’s Andrew Zistler:

It is our sad duty to announce that Moscow based Sofia, aka Florida Skyline, has passed away. A relative newcomer, Florida Skyline's first releases came just a few years ago. We first found her through Midwest Collective's release of her astounding "The Green Tapes" just earlier

At only 17 years old, her production skills and music were inspiring, and well beyond her time. Her signature sound was a mixture chillsynth reminiscent of Com Truise, Tycho, and Home.

Lazerpunk stated in a facebook post, “…She was just a teenager, and she was already creating beautiful music, with a soul, with substance, and I’m at a loss of words now, really, just listen to it. She had a great future in front of her, and I don’t just think, I know she could have grown up to be one of the greatest producers of our times.”

I highly recommend listening to her music:
